Route & General Observations

Drive through Summit Lake to take a look at what the NW winds have done in this area. Several wind slab avalanches, most of which are from earlier in the week (Monday 4/5). One on the north end of Summit Peak, pictured below, is new today April 9th. Winds have scoured and impacted this region more than Turnagain Pass. Many bare ridgelines and sastrugi features seen from the road.

Natural wind slab avalanche on Moose Mountain on 4/5 that gouged to the ground in the gut of this path. Difficult to see.

New natural wind slab from last night or today on the north end of Summit Pk across from Summit Lake. Looks to have overloaded weak snow near the ground.

Wind effect on Fresno Ridge

Natural wind slabs on the south and middle portion of Summit Peak that released Monday 4/5.
