This is the pit dug on Thurseday showing the layers in the snow. We dug a
second pit 50′ lower on an east aspect and had similar results on new surface
layer and failure on the bottom facets ECT30Q1. Hard to get them to go but
they have a fair amount of eneregy when they do. full propagation in both pits
on different layers. The biggest problem today will be the new wind slab on
the surface layer CT8Q1 and the layer around the ice crust/facets but we can’t
rule out the bottom facets completly.
