Route & General Observations

I experienced a lot of small cracking underfoot on my uptrack. Did a few hand shears all with easy-moderate planner results around 10cm down. On a switchback I stomped and released a 7′ wide area. Once I reached 2040′ I was moving into Avi Terrain so I stopped and dug a pit.

Observer Comments

From 1400' to 2040' where I stopped there were about 5 15' diameter sections of shooting cracks around me.

Clear skies, Calm winds

Snow surface

New snow settling from storm after 3/9. Around 6" new snow.

Snowpack

Weak layers were very easy to see in upper layers of the snowpack. CT2 SC down 14cm on buried surface hoar. CT8 down 24cm. ECTP1 SC on layer 14cm down. 17 degree slope, W aspect, 2040'
