Summer road to about 3200ft. Skied the road back to the car. Multiple parties getting good turns on the $1000 run though one person I talked to said it is “still a bit sharkey.”

Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

High scattered, calm winds and 33F at the car at 1pm.

Snow surface

About 20cm new snow on top of the existing snowpack, with a few dippin' dots on the surface.

Snowpack

What appeared to be a mid storm density change about 10cm down, pulled out with medium effort in hand shear, giving an irregular shear plane. Ski pole probing showed the basal facets to be widespread and snowpack depth ranging around 50-70cm. Ski pen 20cm, Boot pen 30cm. Quick pit in photo, marked where I thought the layers are.
