Day 3 of skiing north facing lines in Hatcher Pass area. Generally found great ankle/shin deep cold powder in shaded northern lines and very good stability. Anything with a southern aspect had a bad crust. Maybe that’s starting to corn in places, but we didn’t look for it.
We were happy to see a large cornice fall (natural avy bomb) in Souvenir Bowl that helped our confidence that the snowpack was stable and persistent weak layers from earlier in the year were not still lurking there.
