We toured up towards Snowbird to see what the 60mph winds did to the snowpack…as expected we found extremely variable conditions from wind slabs anywhere from 2-6 inches thick to faceted snow that dominated the top 30-40cm of the snowpack.
We performed two Rutschblock Tests where there were clearly thick wind slabs with positive results: RB 2 and RB 3.
Ski quality was poor but weather was prime with no wind and partly sunny skies.
