Route & General Observations

Normal up track. Warm, warm, warm. No wind but sign of wind on any west facing slope.

Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

Mostly sunny, high clouds. Got to top of skyscraper about noon.

Snow surface

Settled powder. North facing slopes looked fresh, but all other slopes showed wind effect. All the ridges were firm and almost crusty.

Snowpack

Dug two pits, one mid slope, on up near the top.
Middle slope pit had a 16"-20" slab break off on 17 in ETC. Full propagation. The slab broke off quick and sudden. Decided to do a Rutschblock to verify. Got one foot on and full propagation all the way across. Scooted back to the up track ridge.
Skinned up the firm, semi crusty ridge to top of skyscraper. North slope looked good even though test were sketchy.
Repelled off top to about 30' down slope and dug another pit. No instability through full ETC. Found crust layer which lower pit was sliding on but the snow up near the top was adhered to it well enough that there was no slabbing.
Decided to ride lightly and quickly. No problems. But I imagine if you hammered some turns mid-slope something might break free and it could be deep.

Sorry no pics. Left phone in car.
