Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

Sunny and cold. Temps in the low teens. Winds were not quite enough to transport snow in the lower elevations but saw active transport on the high peaks of Byron and Carpathian.

Snow surface

Right side up storm snow, becoming deeper as we neared the toe of the Glacier. Did everything we could to avoid wind affect.

Snowpack

Dug several quick hand pits and weighted a number of smaller test slopes below 2,000'. Found 18-24" of storm snow generally out of wind-affected areas. No red flags other than the one skier-triggered slab mentined above. Kept terrain mellow and avoided wind slabs.
