This avalanche happened sometime at the end of the last storm event. It slid on a steeper roll,
surrounded by less steep terrain with numerous ski tracks. Slope angle at the crown was 40 degrees.
Investigation showed a subtle hardness change in the snow at the problem interface. We had a hard
time being sure that it was buried surface hoar, but we finally found a few small feathers at that layer
mixed with decomposing stellars. Pit tests showed moderate shear strength with Q2 qualities. We
could get full propagation across an extended column.
