Route & General Observations

Observations from the air 12/8/23 in the Seward region. Overall still thin coverage in all Seward zones with the new snow from 12/7 already scoured away or turned into stiff windslabs on nearly every aspect around Lost Lake (as seen via air only). However the lower elevation Lost Lake terrain looked favorable for snowmachines with less wind. Crevasse bridges still thin in many locations and worth avoiding.

There are pockets of good skiing around 4th of July Creek that are holding good snow on S/SE aspects but not sure its worth the effort to reach it. East aspects adjacent to ridgeline near rocky areas went through a natural cycle on 12/7, with no notable activity on other aspects in the region.

Heads up once Snow River opens due to thin crevasse coverage, but the overall snow coverage in the Snow River is currently the best in the region.
