Attempted to brave the icy Seward Highway to Turnagain Pass but turned the truck around at Ingram, at the bottom of the Pass, and headed to the coffee shop. Just like being in the mountains and encountering a lot of red flags telling us the snowpack is dangerous turning us around, the road was telling us to turn back. We did get a little look around at the bottom of some avalanche paths along the road. We also tried to gauge the rain/snow line, no luck.

Natural avalanche cycle occurring today. Several avalanche paths along the Seward highway from Bird to Portage had recent avalanche debris in the bottom of the guts. Also drove a short way down the Portage road and took a photo of the 5 sisters path that had avalanched recently as well.
Rain, moderate to heavy, from Bird to Portage at sea level.
Strong east winds in Portage.
