Trip up to the Seattle Ridge weather station to install the new anemometer. Wind data is now up and running!!

Weather & Snow Characteristics

Weather

Sunny with light northerly breeze along the ridgeline. Temps were chilly, around 10F.

Snow surface

Wind damage from yesterday's outflow NW winds is prevalent on all aspects and elevations. Wind crust, crust and sastrugi. Very hard to find even small areas with soft surface snow.

Snowpack

Dug one pit just above Widowmaker slide path.
2x ECTX
1x CT 21 sudden collapse in the MLK Buried Surface hoar that sat 20" (50cm) below the surface. See pic of pit below.

Bottom Line: This area that was prime for human triggered avalanches two weeks ago is showing that the pack has now adjusted and triggering an avalanche is unlikely.
