Route & General Observations

Thick layer of dense fog at parking lot to the tree line. Slippery uptrack until out of the fog. Blue bird day on top. Surface frost from parking lot to the top.

Weather

10-20 degrees with no wind. Fog as noted before. Clear sky up top

Snow surface

Surface hoar from parking lot to the top. Wind loading in some areas.

Snowpack

Noted a weak layer with compression test after 17 hits on shovel. It was about one foot down. Also noted about 5 feet of snow in the pit that stuck together well ( with exception of the CT17- 12 inches down. ) There was a layer of ice about 2 inches down about 1/4 inch thick. Watch out for this layer in the near future with new snow coming.
