A very large glide avalanche released naturally on the Repeat Offender slide path around 5pm on Sunday, April 24th. This is just to the south of the common uptrack. The debris washed over the lower portions of the uptrack. Several people were in the area and two people were caught in the moving debris. One person was mostly buried, only one arm and the top of their helmet exposed – they were dug out quickly by their group. The other person was not buried and able to dig out their sled. No other people are known to have been involved in the slide. Everyone is reported to be OK.
Between 5pm 8pm, another smaller glide released immediately north of the first avalanche. This second release also pulled out a large wet slab avalanche, burying most of the motorized uptrack. We estimate the combined width of the two glide avalanches and the wet slabs they pulled out to be just under 1500′ in the start zone.
We are gathering additional details and many more photos that we will post as we get them. Thank you to everyone for passing along their photos.
