Avalanche: Turnagain
Location: Seattle Ridge flats
Took a close look at several avalanches close to the road in cut bank along Granite creek. Visibility was difficult to see the higher terrain, but we did catch a glimpse of one natural storm/wind slab on the South end of Seattle Ridge that sent debris to valley bottom. This avalanche was around 300+’ wide and likely 2-3′ deep and running 1,500-2,000′.
Avalanche Details
Several avalanches along the cut bank of Granite Ck. All were 2-3' thick and failing in facets 2-4" below the storm snow.

Observer Comments
All signs of instability were hard to miss. Large collapses, shooting cracks and recent avalanches.
Weather
Overcast/obscured skies, light Northerly winds and temps in the mid 20's.
Snow surface
2-3 feet of new 'moist' snow from overnight. Difficult travel and boot penetration was up to the hips or further. Low elevation winds have blown the new snow into deep drifts in places.
Snowpack
The new snow is sticking to the old surface snow in the lower elevations, but failing in weaker facets below. See photo of crown of one of these slides.
