Observation: Turnagain

Route & General Observations

Clouds moved into Turnagain Pass quickly today and light rain began to fall
below 1500′ around noon. By 3pm it was raining more heavily near Portage and the
Arm.

Corn Biscuit: Light wet snow falling above 1500′ and gusty easterly winds on the
ridges. South faces – Old snow was saturated below a 6″ crust at 3500′ and
little to no refreeze below 1500′
West faces – Snow was saturated below a 2-3″ crust below 2500′ and dryer above
3500′ under a 2-3″ crust. (crusty skiing…)

East face of Seattle Ridge: A couple recent wet slab / glide (hybrid?)
avalanches have released along with several glide avalanches.
