APU Mountain Weather class toured up to Seattle Ridge weather station to do light maintenance.
We walked for the first 500” elevation before starting skinning. We used the common snowmachine uptrack to gain the ridge and onward to the station.

Glide cracks and releases galore at the Seattle Ridge zone! Most of them looked to be several days old, but there were still some fresh ones.
We observed few D1 wet loose avalanches below rocky features. No signs of wet slabs or even small "pushalanches" when we were making turns.
Overcast skies with clearing trend/lifting cloud cover in the afternoon.
Temp in ~40F when starting tour, 31F at the weather station, and warm again back at lower elevation.
Periodic light rain and snow throughout the day, but to our delight, the intensity of precipitation was very mellow

Wet wet wet!
~10cm of new wet snow at higher elevations, lower down precip was mostly rain or at least no new accumulation.
There were no surface crust or surface hoar to be found, just wet grains.
Rain runnels on top snowpack, but they were covered with new snow at higher elevation.
Snowpack depth: 25cm @ 1400', 50cm @1700' and 85cm @ 2400'. Seemed pretty good for Oct 23.
The snowpack layers were moist from top to bottom at all elevations.
We dug a pit at common uptrack at 2400'. There were four distinct layers, all wet grains, except one layer of moist rounds close to the ground. Two distinct crust layers acted like minor layers of concern, thin MF crust at 20 cm from top and thicker pencil hard MF crust at 50cm from top. Both of the crusts were reactive in the quick CT test with moderate strength and moderate propagation propensity.
Temps: surface -4C, -1C at 35cm and 0 at ground.
