Avalanche: Hatcher Pass

Location: SE Face Hatch Pk

Route & General Observations

SS-ARu-D2-I, 600’wide 16” deep ran to bottom of slope.

Second rider remotely triggered slide 30ft below. Took out some of tracks of previous skier. No one caught.

Pit on same aspect (afterward) 1000’ + lower: ECTN12 CT16 RP density inversion. Fist DF below 4F Graupel layer just above crust

Avalanche seemed like there was possibility something more going on than just a density inversion at failure layer.

Slope had not taken heat.

Certainly found it! Close call.
