Party we passed said they experienced widespread whumpfing. We followed their skin track for a bit and stepped off in numerous places, no whumpfing. Harp mtn standard uptrack on E Ridge.
2/19 dead calm. 25 degrees. Sunny until 4 pm then scattered clouds.
10 to 30 cm low density new snow on lower flanks of Harp, depending of lee/windward aspect. Two distinctive old 1 to 2 F wind packed layers both about 10 cm below that. 30 cm pencil old windslab below that, sitting on thick layer of sugary facets. Assuming all the recent activity failed on this interface since numerous large slides in the area slid to ground. One D2 on W aspect Harp at 3500' initiated in newer snow ( fresh wind slab) and stepped to these basal facets.
