Recent natural avalanche on a Southeast aspect of Ragged Bowl. Size ≈D2.5
Debris and flanks were fresh, probably happened within the last 24hours.
We put in skin track, no other people in the area.
Starting zone was near 3800' and ran a total distance of 1000'
Temps - 20's F in the Sun, teens in the shade
Winds- Steady 5-10mph below 2500', Winds appeared to be blowing steady in the 30's mph along ridgetops. Other peaks in the Crow Creek Valley didn't have large plums like Raggedtop.
Sky- Clear w/ scattered clouds
4-6" of loose new snow on supportable crust. Winds did not seem to be creating wind slabs below 2500' in this protected area.
Handpit at 2500' showed 6" new on a 2" crust with ≈4" moist rounding facets sitting on very hard crust below.
