Observation: Hatcher Pass

Location: Presidents Ridge

Route & General Observations

Skiing was good, the new snow mostly covered the old ski tracks.

Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.

Overcast, gradual warming during the day. Roughly 6 inches of new snow overnight 2/23-24.

Snow surface

Fist hard new snow over fist hard near surface facets. Very slight wind affect barely visible above 3700'

Overall very good snow stability, albeit the deep faceted and depth hoar layers keep being a concern. Last nights new snow wasn't well bonded to under lying near surface facets, but was to soft to behave like a slab in our informal tests.
