Route & General Observations

Intention was to get out and check out new snow and enjoy it. Did 3 laps on Powder Pimple via Fishhook Lot. Wind transport was noted throughout 2.5 hour tour.

Observer Comments

Small shooting cracks were noted on upper ridge. Wind was forming reactive shallow wind slabs up to 4in thick by 1300.
Active loading from SE wind.

Weather

Wind and wind gusts that we experienced matched Marmot weather station
12 pm: 19.2 'F, 27 mph SE, gusting to 44 mph

Relatively strong visibility for the area :).

Snow surface

New snow (powder, very fun skiing at mid to lower elevations), forming wind slabs, Christmas crust exposed on Ridge proper (if only we could keep the crust in Christmas ;))

Snowpack

No formal or informal stability tests performed

No natural avalanches noted on tour
