Observation: Portage / Placer
Location: Portage Valley
Natural wet snow avalanche witnessed from the Portage road at 10:30am. This path is just across from the Portage Visitor Center and near an ice climbing area called ‘Follies’. It is SW facing with a start zone around 3,000′.
Weather today was heavy rain on snow below 2,000′ and wet snow above. Wind was strong from the East.
