Rapid loading (wind/rain/snow) and numerous recent avalanches. Avalanches ranged from D1-D2 in size. Many were in obviously wind loaded terrain. In the larger channelized avalanche paths there was new debris over the older debris.
44 degrees shown on the dashboard driving along Portage Rd at 1300. Wind at the lake strong enough to make it difficult to open the truck door. Driving rain at the lake, light showers closer to Seward Hwy intersection.
