Route & General Observations

We rode out to the Spencer Glacier for a sight-seeing day today. Crusts in the valleys, with widespread wind effect on just about every aspect. Looks like this next round of snow will be falling on firm surfaces on all aspects, whether it is supportable wind slabs, sun crusts, or firm wind-scoured surfaces.

Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

Mostly sunny with cool temps and occasional light breezes from variable directions.

Snow surface

We never left the valley, but surfaces were pretty well locked up with supportable melt-freeze crusts. It looked like there may still be some protected pockets of soft snow out there judging by new tracks, but that was the exception rather than the rule.
