Toured from the Johnson Pass parking area up west shoulder of Petes North to roughly 2500′. We skied one lap on the South shoulder before moving to lap the North shoulder. Rain crust existed to roughly 1200′. New snow accumulation was less than an inch. Above tree line hand pits revealed a 15-20cm fist hard layer that layer that lay on a Q1 interface.
West aspect of the North shoulder pit:
Elevation: 2208′
Aspect: 268°
Slope Angle: 22°
Depth of Snow: 185 cm
Pt Depth: 125 cm
– CT-7 SC 20cm Q1
– ECTN-6 20cm
– The Dec. 1 rain crust @ 90 cm was not reactive in either test, however it did shear with a light shovel pry.
