Observation: Chugach State Park

Location: Peak 3

Route & General Observations

Skied the main bowl of peak three this morning. Winds increased from the AM
through the end of our ski at 1pm. On the ridge winds were moderate to strong
from the NW transporting snow. Visibility was poor most of the morning with no
recent activity observed on Peak 2 or Peak 3, couldn’t see further back the

We skied by the snow pit from the 7th. There was about 10″ low density
new snow at the pit site. On the tour up we had a few small shooting cracks when
we ventured into areas with stiffer wind affected surface snow, but didn’t observe
these in areas that were not wind affected.

Conditions on the ridge were miserable with decent low visibility skiing down the
main run from the shoulder.
