Route & General Observations

At 11 AM on 4/26 we left the Magnum parking lot headed for Pastoral via Taylor Pass. Despite the late start and warm night, ice from the previous night was still present in the flowing ditch near the road and a firm crust was present. No signs of instability were observed on the skin to Pastoral. The N face of Pastoral had consolidated/heavy powder with pockets of light wind affect. After Pastoral we skied Sunburst descending around 3:30. Despite the extreme warmth and sun the snow was perfect corn and not overly wet. No large or recent wetslides were observed on Sunburst. Winds were quite calm, much more so than Saturday.
