Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

Clear with light wind, moderate temps.

Snow surface

Snow surface was wind significantly wind effected along the Pastoral Ridge, much less so lower down. Shaded aspects had a shallow layer, ~4", of soft dry snow over a stiffer layer.

Snowpack

We dug a pit at roughly 4200' on a north aspect, ~30 degree angle, of Pastoral, below one of the gullies we planned to ski. Pit results: ECTP25 on 4F layer approximately 30cm from the surface, block was stubborn to release and did not appear to have much energy. Bottom of slab was 1 finger and below was 4 finger.
