This avalanche was seen on Thursday with debris that buried the standard Blueberry Hill trail. Time of release after speaking with the Glen Alps caretaker was likely on Wednesday (10/6) during the rain.

Note: This slope often avalanches during stormy weather (wind/rain/snow) and is a clear hazard for hikers headed to Flattop. With the wet snow and depth of the avalanche, it could have done harm to anyone on the trail under it when it released. This hill avalanches many times over the winters and will likely do so again this season with subsequent snow and wind.

The avalanche crown was around 5' deep and the bed surface as the ground.
The debris pile was around 8’ deep and the volume of a large house.
The snowpack was isothermal all the way to the top of flattop.
