Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

Strong SE wind from hunter pass to summit. Storm clouds by symphony lake and further south. Wind kept temptures cool.

Snow surface

Old supportable wind slab and some melt freeze. Some of the stronger gusts moved some surface snow and there were a few snow devils along the ridge. Didn't see any wind slabs forming, not a lot of snow available for transport.

Snowpack

Quick informal pit at 3,400', North aspect. About 40cm of mostly pencil hard slab on 10cm of moist, somewhat rounding, facets. A few other thin layers in the slab. Snow above 3,000 was supportable, below 3,000 it was collapsing.
