Route & General Observations

This crown profile was low on a natural avalanche on a NE aspect.
Many other naturals were seen in the region on all aspects from
the recent wind event. The wind slabs at the ridge tops were
clearly stepping into the deeper, well developed facets above the
Nov. 22 rain crust. Weak layers through the region are very weak,
structure is very poor.
Extended column test in undisturbed snow adjacent to avalanche
showed full propagation with high strength but a collapsing weak
layer. This kind of problem can be human triggered from a shallow
point and create a much larger and deeper avalanche.
