Route & General Observations

Skied SW and N facing slopes on Microdot.
-A couple natural D1-D2 slides were observed on surrounding mountains, primarily slopes with some southern exposure.
-Lots of loose dry sluffs and point releases originating from rocks and cornices.
-apprx 2-3ft of unconsolidated snow on most slopes
-Microdot west facing ridge held some deeply rippled and wind effected snow. Wind effected snow observed on all surrounding ridge tops of various aspects.
-0.5″-1″ localized, disconnected wind slabs on ridge top.
-some sun crust on disturbed skin track walls and directly south facing aspects.
-With snow depth, difficult to self rescue from a fall. One skier in our party spent 30 mins wallowing through snow searching for his ski (found it).
-trail breaking is very hard. Had to skin downhill in places.
