Observation: Chugach State Park

Mile High trailhead to Meadow Creek. Dug two pits, first one at 2500 feet in wind-protected area. ECTP 11@100 cm. Weak layer was depth hoar and facets on the ground. Second pit at 3000 feet in more wind-effected but not scoured area. ECTP 23@100 cm. Same weak layer. Both pits showed a single cohesive slab in between the soft surface snow and the sugar snow on the ground. No whoomphing or cracking observed during five low-angle ski runs down to Meadow Creek.
