Observation: Chugach State Park

Route & General Observations

Toured from 10am- 4pm. We took the standard approach from the parking lot up to 2,500 feet. We dug two pits, skied several laps, and then headed back to the cars.

Weather

The sky was overcast with no current precipitation. There was a light breeze from the SE. The air temperature was -1C.

Snow surface

There were decomposing snow crystals at the surface roughly 1mm in size. The snow surface was not wind loaded.

Snowpack

The layer of concern was the facets at 19-32cm.
