Route & General Observations

Up the standard up-track from the Fish Hook parking lot to the south ridge/face.

Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

Another blue-bird day with no wind. Temps right around freezing.

Snow surface

On south aspects with slope angles greater than 25 degrees, there was 2 cm of snow over a developing melt/freeze crust that was 3 cm thick. The crust is fragile.

Snowpack

Under the crust a layer of small facets is developing. Easy shears were seen doing the shovel tilt test, sliding with a sudden planar character. CT and ECT tests were not conclusive for this layer, mostly because the layer was destroyed conducting the test. But there were no significant results from layers lower in the pack.
