Persistent slab failed on facets on a crust with debris running down into a terrain trap aka the Death Gully.
Skied down Marmot while trying to avoid slopes >35 (thanks for the forecast), when we cut on the ridge above a gully with a southerly facing slope that was ~40 degrees. The top 30 cm released below us. Triggered a persistent slab.

Trigger | Skier | Remote Trigger | Unknown |
Avalanche Type | Soft Slab | Aspect | South |
Elevation | unknown | Slope Angle | 40deg |
Crown Depth | 12in | Width | 150ft |

Released at the crown of the ridge as the slope dropped into a gully on a south facing slope becoming steeper to approximately 40 degrees. It released uphill, laterally and below us and the entire crown we estimated at 150 feet circumference. Bed surface was smooth possible sun crust or other crust with visible facets.
