Route & General Observations

10:00-15:30

Approached Manitoba via standard route to 2500’. Descended the south facing alders and crossed Juneau Creek. Ascended the west ridge of Spirit Walker and skied SW and N aspect trees/alders up to 2600’. Visibility in and out all day. Precipitation came and went with viz. Light winds just enough to make skins flap in the wind during transitions.

Snow surface

Only a trace of new snow. Loose dry powder and wind affected/settled powder. No obvious signs of instability in wind affected snow.

Snowpack

Noticed some glide cracks on S aspect of Manitoba. See pin on map for approximate location. Glide cracks were not noticed while skiing Sunday, 1/24, in the same area.
