Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

Moderate snow with 5-10mph winds until about 3pm then deceasing to calm. Temperatures were in the mid 30s.

Snow surface

New dense snow.

Snowpack

Multiple hand pits showed the 2/17 snow not bonding with the lower density 2/16 snow.
This 2/17 dense layer failed on placement of shovel for the CT. The new snow from both days easily slid on wind slabs.
