Route & General Observations

Starting at the parking lot at 11:30 AM. -8° with high cloud ceiling at the road. Surface hoar, large sugary facets developing on surface, and hollow-feeling snowpack.

Standard skin track up. Felt like temps rose significantly as we climbed. Snowpack felt like it had consolidated. Cold breeze from the north. Sun came out for a while but on/off flat light for most of the day. Cloud cover lowering throughout the day, could see dark clouds to N. At 2,100’ probed at 130 cm in a protected flat area- probably indicative of the true snow depth of the area.

Turned around at 3,000’ on SW ridge. Slight wind crust. Probed at 175 cm with a crust about 45 cm from top, another crust 85 cm from top, and another crust at 135 cm from top.

A delightful ski down! Back in the parking lot at 4:30 just as some light flurries were starting. 13°.
