Manitoba – standard approach

Weather:
Snowing lightly with poor visibility. Light winds. Skies cleared off at 1800.

Snowpack:
Pit on standard Manitoba approach at approx. 2200ft. Total snowpack depth= 50cm. 7 cm of new snow
since 0100. Several melt freeze layers in first 25 cm with basal ice layer at ground. 20 cm+ mod density
snow well bonded to uppermost melt freeze layer. Possible buried surface hoar under 7cm new snow.

Signs of instability:
No obvious signs of instability.

Good skiing down to access road. Rock skis mandatory…..
