Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

The sky was clear most of the day, overcast came in from the south in early afternoon. Winds were initially calm and picked up to around 5mph in the afternoon above treeline. Temperature was upper teens/low 20s above treeline especially when the sun was out. Much colder in the trees by the creek.

Snow surface

The surface showed settlement cones on vegetation and had 8mm surface hoar at 3000'. Surface hoar was present from the road to the top of Manitoba.

Snowpack

3000' elevation, west aspect. Snowpack was 140cm.
The top 30cm was fist hard, the next 30cm was 4 Finger hard, and the bottom 70cm was 1 finger hardness. I did not dig down to ground level.
The rain crust from early Dec is still sturdy below 2500'.
