Observer Comments
Below 2700' Collapsing is still occurring, above 2700' did not observe any collapsing. In my pit all 5 Lemons were present taking into account the snowpack depth varies from from a meter to more and the basal facets observed were 11cm thick.
Weather
Light winds from the North. Scattered snow S-1 to S1 in the morning then clearing to scattered skies in the afternoon. Temps were in the mid 20's
Snow surface
Smooth Soft on the face, loading on ridges, the lee side of some gulley's and lower down around 1800' near June Peak.
Snowpack
I was looking for which elevation the collapsing stopped, what was causing it and why. On 11/14 I had a CT6 SC at 2500' above a Mfc on facets, and at 3350' an ECTX with 1F at the bottom and cohesiveness at the snow/ground interface on a 23 degree slope.
I dug one pit at 2800' on a W Aspect 18 degree slope, HS:114. Hardness was right side up, except for the bottom which was F. CT 16 Q2/RP on what looked like decomposing stellars down 50cm. Same test CT21 at the ground on basal facets. I did 2 ECT tests: ECTX, ECTP28 Sudden Planar at the ground on a 2mm basal facet layer 11cm thick that looked slightly rounded. To note, the ECTP 28 jumped out at me (Photos). Both ECT'S did not show propagation on the stellar looking layer but did break on that layer across the column as I was moving it out of the pit. It was nice to do 2 ECT's to compare data.
