Manitoba main face wind carnage.

Obvious signs of instability

Recent Avalanches?	No
Collapsing (Whumphing)?	Yes
Cracking (Shooting cracks)?	No

Observer Comments

On a very gentle aspect (10-15 degrees) felt a significant layer collapse. Felt the snowpack drop about 2” (felt like a trampoline) and sounded like the fracture travelled a distance (a wild guess of 50-100 feet). No fracture was visible afterward though.

Sunny, no wind, and in the teens.

Snow surface

Extremely wind hammered above tree line and less wind affected below tree line.

Snowpack

Didn’t dig a snow pit. Hardpacked sustrugi up high and nice dry powder in the areas sheltered by trees.
