Route & General Observations

Toured partway up Manitoba. 6 – 10″ of fresh below treeline that was a little on the moist side. Above treeline the powder was a lot nicer and drier. Average depths of the fresh snowfall above treeline on manitoba between about 1.5 – 2.5 feet, with some loaded micro-terrain features reaching 3-4 feet deep. On convexities around 40 – 50 degrees, the storm snow failed easily when skinning across it, but with no propagation. No shooting cracks or whumphing either.

On nearby peaks within view, there are small/medium wind slabs that have formed. I didn’t see any avalanche crowns.
