Jon and I dug this pit at 3000 feet on an ENE aspect. This is
the third time I have dug in this spot (11/21/08 and 12/16/08
were the previous days) Amazingly we found the October surface
hoar about a foot off the ground, but we could not get it to
fracture. The January facets were only 20-30 cm deep because
this aspect was windward in the storm. We got moderate to hard
Q3 shears in the middle of the facets.
