Route & General Observations

A look at the start zones off the Magnum ridge on the S and SW aspects. Very
loose faceted snow covers most of the terrain from top to bottom. Sluffing is
very prevalent. Snow depth varied from 2-3′ @ 3000′ and above to 1-2′ below
2500′. A slab can still be found above 3500′ but is degrading. Pit results
showing signs that the slab is hard to trigger and does not want to propagate.

The sun the past two/three weeks has formed a sun crust up to in inch thick on
isolated steep slopes facing south above 3500′. Once the angle is less than 40
deg the crust is not present. This is not widespread but worthy of noting.
