Route & General Observations

Headed to ski the south facing chutes on Magnum, but the wind and the clouds beat us there. Visibility dropped very quickly and the wind turned on just before noon. Our skin track was filling in several inches just in the 100ft of spacing we were putting between partners. We ripped skins at the top of PMS bowl and followed yesterday’s tracks out in the flat light. So much snow was moving around from the wind it looked like it was flowing across the ground.

Stiffening wind slabs had already built up in the rollers at alder line, it had been loose snow when we skinned through roughly 45min earlier.

Also, the glide crack is still there at the base of PMS Bowl, skiers’ right.
