Route & General Observations

Started from the Sunburst lot after being shutdown by the alders at the mile 66 TH.
Ascended Magnum via the NW ridge. The usual wind affect found here.
Descended the South face, then exited west by bashing through the alders to get to the Iditarod trail.

Sluff management needed in steep high elevation terrain.
Glide cracks along Cornbiscuit’s N face, with some depressions near Superbowl (see Photo).
Old Cornice collapse along Magnum’s ridge.
Debris from old Ax at bottom of Magnum’s south face.

fairly calm
kinda cold

Snow surface

hard frozen snow in low elevations, transition to faceting soft snow near 2000'
small surface hoar in most places, a bit larger around 3000', ~2mm (see photo).
The usual wind effect along ridges.
