Route & General Observations

Toured up the common Magnum uptrack to the top of the ridge. Very cold with temps ranging from negative single digits at the car to just above 0 at the top, light east wind, mostly clear skies. Lots of huge surface hoar growing in the lower meadows with smaller surface hoar and near surface facets above treeline. Snow quality was great, nice square powder turns. No signs of instability besides big glide cracks below Sunburst and on the south facing slopes below Magnum summit. The weak snow surface is great for skiing now but will obviously lead to big problems when the North Pacific pain train storm cycle makes a return to Southcentral Sunday.
